I sat down heavily in the chair beside her. “You tried to warn me and I almost didn’t listen.”
“You listened,” Grandma said, taking my hand. “You listened enough to look through that window, enough to open that door, enough to pull that document out of his pocket instead of simply walking down the aisle and asking questions later. That’s not almost failing, sweetheart. That’s exactly the instinct I was hoping you still had time to trust.”
